Musings on a Pebble

I saw a pebble today, on a bridge as I walked by.
I stopped to pick it up and thought:
How often we think we make decisions based on reason,
When probably much reasoning is an attempt to back up our emotions.
I had no reason to have noticed that black and white pebble at dusk,
And even less reason to have put it in my pocket.
But that is what I fancied, and that is what transpired.

Do you like the word 'transpired'? I like it. It sounds better than 'happened'.

Huh. What an interesting thought...transpired.... I guess it lends itself to like...a more dreamy 'happened'. When I think of transpired, I think it unfolded the way it needed to. Happened is just... it happened. Nothing more to it.

That's exactly how it felt! Some strange pull, that this is how things needed to be.
