Sometimes, I wonder...

Where did I get my mutant genes from? Mum and Dad weren't mutants. My sister isn't one. But I don't really know a lot about my family, like my grandparents and stuff. They were dead before I was born. How would I go about finding out?

Sometimes that's just the way it happens. I know lots of people from families with no mutants at all, as far as anyone knows, that ended up manifesting.

Even today, theories on predisposition to our particular brand of mutation are wildly contested, but a popular theory is that it may have to do with genetics and dominant and recessive traits.

An example of this would be like some family members having blue eyes while others have brown, or some family members having red hair while others have brown hair, even if they are siblings (this will be something we will cover in class later this semester).

So in short, people in your family can carry the genetic markers for the mutation but never really manifest powers themselves.
